REQUIREMENTS

There are no requirements! As long as you can hold a fiddle and are eager to learn, there's a place for you. If you don't know how to play and would still like to attend, you can schedule private lessons with me, Emmaleigh Loveland, at least a month in advance to secure a spot at our first Chattanooga Fiddle Camp! All ages and levels are invited to attend, as student's will be split into groups with material tailored to meet them where they are.

Early Registration closes Sunday, March 31st.

Late Registration ($150+$50) begins Monday, April 1st and closes Wednesday, May 1st.

As we get closer to the event, you will be emailed an excerpt (beginner, intermediate, or advanced level), which will need to be recorded and sent to emmloveland@gmail.com or through text, 385-505-4941, by Friday, June 7th. This is NOT an audition, it is simply to help me know which group will best fit the needs of each student!

MEET YOUR TEACHERS

AF1A0734.jpeg

Emmaleigh Loveland is an experienced violinist with 7 years of teaching experience in both classical violin and fiddle with a particular focus in helping student's find their style.

She was taught under the direction of Marcel Bowman, a Doctor of Music Composition, and has also worked under bluegrass and celtic fiddler's across Idaho and Utah. Emmaleigh has performed with orchestras and ensembles across the West United States, and has been a concerto soloist in multiple youth orchestras with superior markings at a state level. She studied Education at BYU-Idaho before moving to Chattanooga this last year where she quickly noticed a growing need for proper education in violin and fiddle technique.

With the goal of promoting a strong foundation for student's to start their music education and career, Emmaleigh founded Emm's All-Level Fiddle Camp here in Chattanooga.

This year, we are honored to have Tom Morley as our guest teacher!

Tom Morley’s career spans over thirty years and a host of genres. He’s played Celtic, Bluegrass, classical, swing, Americana, and Country Honky-Tonk. Classically trained with a degree in music education, Tom has followed his passion for Irish Traditional Music for the past two decades as a soloist and with various groups, including Mithril and the Irish Folk trio Stringer’s Ridge.

Tom teaches privately and has been on the faculty of fiddle workshops and string camps around the US. He is the first International affiliate for the Online Irish Fiddle Certification Program for the Leinster School of Music and Drama at Griffith College Dublin.

Tom is the author of several popular fiddle instructional books (distributed through Shar Music), including "Learn to Play Irish Trad Fiddle" and the "Fiddle Club Favorites for Strings" series, a collection of folk and fiddle tunes for beginning players, available for violin, viola, cello, and mandolin.

Commonly Asked Questions

Why would a classical violinist learn how to fiddle?
Fiddling gives you greater confidence in your performing abilities, and an increased knowledge of music theory. As a performer, the knowledge I have gained through fiddling has become crucial to my quality of playing in every genre of music. My bow control has improved, as well as my ability to sight read music, improvise, quickly pick up tunes I hear, and understand rhythm and counting.
Do I teach privately?
Yes, I do! I teach classical violin and fiddle with a strong emphasis in understanding music theory. I believe in helping student's find their own style, picking music and concepts that will best help them reach their individual goals. If you are interested in starting lessons, take a look at my website or contact me at 423-320-1981.
What additional materials will the students recieve?
Students will be recieving a large variety of fiddle tunes compiled into a single book that will be used throughout the camp. Pieces will be arranged by the teachers that are specifically made for all levels of students with information they can take with them beyond the camp.
Students will also recieve a personalized tote bag to use for their materials.

Are observors welcome?
If interested, parents are welcome to come the first hour of camp to enjoy a concert from local teachers in the area and get a taste of what will be featured at the music camp!
Friends and family are also welcome to join us for our camp concert on Friday and enjoy pop-ups from local music stores.
